- Think you're infected:
- This is due to a slowdown of your computer.
- Your anti virus keeps repeating alerts.
- If you think you are infected you must know what type of virus it is.
- Is the software side (eg pop up)?
- Do you have multiple alerts
- Is this a warning not serious (eg cookie alert)?
- What not to do:
- install another anti virus: you lose time.
- Formatting the hard drive: to do as a last resort.
- Delete files: especially when we do not know where.
- Restore the system: this does not remove the virus.
- What to do:
- Make an effort of memory to remind you if you went on the internet, what file you downloaded ...
- If you know the infected file you can delete it in safe mode.
